On 5–6 September 2026, Valencia hosted its first Spain Sail Grand Prix, bringing the international SailGP championship to the city’s Mediterranean waterfront.
This series follows the event from the spectator stands to the fan village, moving between the boats on the water and the people gathered to watch them. Spanish flags, straw hats and the colours of the sea connect crowd scenes with individual portraits and quieter details.
My attention moved between the scale of the gathering and the gestures within it: a hand resting on a friend’s shoulder, a fan raised against the heat, faces following the action beyond the shore. Together, these photographs tell the story of a sporting event through the experience of being there.
